    Food Quality And Authenticity Screening Via Easy Ambient Sonic-spray Ionization Mass Spectrometry.

    This review is the first to summarize a decade of studies testing the use of easy ambient sonic-spray ionization mass spectrometry (EASI-MS) and its several sister techniques, Venturi (V-EASI), thermal imprinting (TI-EASI) and Spartan (S-EASI) mass spectrometry in food quality control and authentication. Since minimal or no sample preparation is required, such ambient desorption/ionization techniques have been shown to provide direct, fast and selective fingerprinting characterization at the molecular level based on the pools of the most typical components. They have also been found to be applicable on intact, undisturbed samples or on simple solvent extracts. Fundamentals of EASI-MS and its sister techniques, including mechanisms, devices, parameters and strategies, as well as the many applications reported for food analysis, are summarized and discussed.1411172-118

    Coeval perpendicular shortenings in the Brasilia belt : collision of irregular plate margins leading to oroclinal bending in the Neoproterozoic of central Brazil

    The three belts which form the Tocantins province (central Brazil) records Neoproterozoic-EoPaleozoic collisions involving the Amazon and São Francisco paleocontinents and the Paraná continental block. The Brasília belt is a typical orocline bended around the WNW—ESE striking Pirineus Zone of High Strain (PZHS) and is comprised of the NE-trending (northern) and SE-trending (southern) segments. The Brasília dome is an N—S elliptical structural window situated in the center of the belt, at the eastern end of the PZHS. It evidences Di— D₂ and D₃ɴ shortenings (~ 750—590 Ma) due to ocean closure and Amazon- São Francisco collision following a WNW—ESE path, and demonstrates similar evolution for both segments of the belt. However, in the southern segment, D₁—D₂ structures are deformed by shortening in the SW-NE direction (D₃S). New data demonstrating D₁—D₂ and D₃ɴ tectonites deformed by D₃S struc- tures in the area close to the dome's SW margin and SE of the PZHS support understanding the Brasília belt and oroclinal bending as a consequence of the collision of two (Amazon and São Francisco) irregular continental margins leading to separation-rotation of the Paraná block from the Amazon paleocontinent and the Paraná-São Francisco collision

    The Goeldi Museum instituted in 2007 the Joint Selective Collection Program in compliance with the Decree Law (MPEG / CCTE, 2008). The program aims to selective separation of recyclable solid waste generated by administrative and research activities developed by the institution and their proper environmental disposal, contributing to the socio-economic inclusion of recyclable materials collectors, enhance and strengthen this manpower through associations and cooperatives in addition to the Eco-management of solid waste generated in the institution. The objective of this study was to which coordination of the Goeldi Museum carry out the selective collection and recycling of solid waste. The project was developed on the premises of the Goeldi Museum, only in campus research. Data were collected through interviews, using a previously designed questionnaire. The results indicated that not all coordinators are conducting the selective collection and recycling of waste materials, also showing a low knowledge about recycling by employees, regardless of level of education. Thus the results presented by employees direct their opinions about the importance of waste recycling and selective collection.O Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi instituiu em 2007 o Programa de Coleta Seletiva Solidária em cumprimento ao Decreto Lei (MPEG/CCTE, 2008). O programa tem como objetivo a separação seletiva dos resíduos sólidos recicláveis gerados pelas atividades administrativas e de pesquisa desenvolvidas pela instituição e sua correta destinação socioambiental, contribuindo para a inclusão socioeconômica dos catadores de matérias recicláveis, a fim de valorizar e fortalecer essa mão de obra por intermédio de associações e cooperativas além da gestão ecologica dos resíduos sólidos gerados na instituição. O objetivo deste trabalho foi conhecer quais coordenações do Museu Goeldi realizam a coleta seletiva e a reciclagem de seus resíduos sólidos. O projeto foi desenvolvido nas dependências do Museu Goeldi, somente no campus de pesquisa. Os dados foram coletados através da aplicação de questionário, previamente elaborado e foram analisados através da estatistica descritva. Os resultados obtidos indicaram que nem todas as coordenações estão realizando a coleta seletiva e reciclagem de seus resíduos, mostrando também um baixo conhecimento a respeito da reciclagem por parte dos funcionários, independentemente do nível de escolaridade.     O processamento da leitura é resultado da interação de distintos processos cognitivos, como reconhecimento de palavras, compreensão oral e fluência. Há evidências sobre a importância da fluência para predizer a compreensão de leitura, mas ainda não é claro seu papel ao longo do desenvolvimento. Essa revisão sistemática analisou estudos nacionais e internacionais sobre a relação das habilidades de reconhecimento de palavras e fluência de leitura com a compreensão de leitura em alunos do 4º ao 9º ano. A revisão foi conduzida de acordo com a metodologia prisma e utilizou a base de dados PubMed, de 2000 a setembro de 2019. Foram incluídos artigos que respondiam à pergunta norteadora e atendiam à temática estabelecida pelos descritores e palavras-chave. Foram encontrados 992 artigos, dos quais 904 foram excluídos pelo título e resumo e 56 pela leitura do texto completo. Isto possibilitou a análise de 32 artigos. Os resultados sugerem que, diferentemente do reconhecimento de palavras, a habilidade de fluência de leitura tende a manter relação significativa com a compreensão de leitura no decorrer do segundo ciclo do Ensino Fundamental

    Text processing results from the interaction of different cognitive processes, such as word recognition, listening comprehension, and fluency. There is evidence relating to the importance of fluency in predicting reading comprehension, but its role during the course of development is still uncertain. The present systematic review has analyzed national and international research on the relationship between word recognition skills and reading fluency with reading comprehension in students from the 4th to 9th grade. The review was conducted according to the PRISMA methodology and employed the PubMed database from 2000 to September 2019. The chosen papers answered the orienting question and corresponded to the topic established by the descriptors and keywords. We found 992 articles, of which 904 were excluded by reading the titles and abstracts and 56 by reading the full texts. It was possible to analyze 32 papers. The results suggest that, unlike word recognition, the ability to read fluently tends to uphold a significant relationship with reading comprehension during the second cycle of Elementary School.El procesamiento de la lectura es el resultado de la interacción de diferentes procesos cognitivos, como el reconocimiento de palabras, la comprensión oral y la fluidez. Existe evidencia sobre la importancia de la fluidez en la predicción de la comprensión lectora, pero a lo largo del desarrollo su papel no está claro. Esta revisión sistemática analizó estudios nacionales e internacionales sobre la relación entre las habilidades de reconocimiento de palabras y fluidez lectora con la comprensión lectora en estudiantes de 4° a 9° grado. La revisión se realizó de acuerdo con la metodología prisma y utilizó la base de datos  PubMed, desde el 2000 hasta septiembre de 2019. Fueron incluidos artículos que respondieron a la pregunta guía y cumplieron con la temática establecida por los descriptores y palabras clave.     Evolution of the X-ray Luminosity in Young HII Galaxies

    In an effort to understand the correlation between X-ray emission and present star formation rate (SFR), we obtained XMM-Newton data to estimate the X-ray luminosities of a sample of actively starforming HII galaxies. The obtained X-ray luminosities are compared to other well known tracers of star formation activity such as the far infrared and the ultraviolet luminosities. We also compare the obtained results with empirical laws from the literature and with recently published analysis applying synthesis models. We use the time delay between the formation of the stellar cluster and that of the first X-ray binaries, in order to put limits on the age of a given stellar burst. We conclude that the generation of soft X-rays, as well as the Ha or infrared luminosities is instantaneous. The relation between the observed radio and hard X-ray luminosities, on the other hand, points to the existence of a time delay between the formation of the stellar cluster and the explosion of the first massive stars and the consequent formation of supernova remnants and high mass X-ray binaries (HMXB) which originate the radio and hard X-ray fluxes respectively. When comparing hard X-rays with a star formation indicator that traces the first million years of evolution (e.g. Ha luminosities) we found a deficit in the expected X-ray luminosity. This deficit is not found when the X-ray luminosities are compared with infrared luminosities, a star formation tracer that represents an average over the last 10^8 years. The results support the hypothesis that hard X-rays are originated in X-ray binaries which, as supernova remnants, have a formation time delay of a few mega years after the starforming burst.Comment: Accepted by MNRA

In this paper, we present the development of an impedance-based method for detecting T. pallidum antigens and antibodies as an auxiliary tool for syphilis laboratory diagnosis. We evaluate the voltammetric signal obtained after incubation in carbon or gold nanoparticle-modified carbon electrodes in the presence or absence of Poly-L-Lysine. Our results indicate that the signal obtained from the electrodes was sufficient to distinguish between infected and non-infected samples immediately (T0′) or 15 min (T15′) after incubation, indicating its potential use as a point-of-care method as a screening strategy.publishersversionpublishe
